Mastercam took a lot of heat when they changed the interface with the X series, just as Solidworks did with the 08 version. I do however believe that both companies knew what they where doing and anyone who still want to go back, missed a step somewhere.
No doubt that companies like Solidworks has a big influence on the CAM world in regards to new features, this new Mastercam "3D gnomon" looks very familiar ;-) almost like a "triad".
I'm considering if there shouldn't be an extra fee if you want the postal service delivering DVD's, you need a internet connection after first SP release anyways.

Re: MastercamX4 is Downloadable

Lars,

It looks as if CAM software is starting to look more and more like CAD software which is a good thing to help with the learning curve. I remember taking MasterCAM 9 classes and not enjoying the DOS interface very much. Looks as if the X series of MasterCAM is heading in a good direction. Its also great to see other software companies making software downloads accessible. SolidWorks 2009 was the first release from us where the download was exactly what you would get on the DVD. Who needs to waste all that plastic and packaging when you can jump online and download your favorite CAM or CAD software in a matter of hours!
